Pinnacle Polymers Latest Industry Leader to
Select Pavilion Technologies' Polymer Solution
AUSTIN, Texas - February 23 2005 -
Pavilion Technologies, a world leader in advanced process control
(APC) and environmental compliance solutions, announced today that
Pinnacle Polymers has selected Pavilion's polymer APC solution for
two UNIPOL polypropylene units at Pinnacle Polymers' Garyville,
Louisiana facility. This implementation follows a successful
ValueFirst™ benefits study which estimated that Pavilion's polymer
solution would generate a substantial return on investment.
This marks the third major polyolefin manufacturer in the last four
months to select Pavilion's advanced process control solution.
"Our Louisiana facility is one of the most modern polypropylene
plants in North America. We chose Pavilion's polymer APC solution to
further support our commitment to quality and customer
satisfaction," said Jerry Theys, President of Pinnacle
Polymers. "The benefits identified through Pavilion's
ValueFirst™ program convinced our team that Pavilion's solution
would immediately impact our production performance, monomer yields
and overall profitability."
Based on the ValueFirst benefits analysis of the current
operating conditions on two polypropylene trains at the Pinnacle
facility and Pavilion's experience with similar UNIPOL projects, the
primary benefits expected on this implementation include:
- Increased production rate between 1.5 - 2.5%
- Enhanced product quality through reduce in-grade off-spec by
as much as 25%
- Reduced transition material by reducing transition off-spec by
as much as 25%
- Increase monomer yields by 1%
- Reducing catalyst usage by as much as 3%
"Our work with Pinnacle builds on years of experience delivering
results for many of the world's leading polymer manufacturers," said
Pavilion CEO Ralph Carter. "With the benefits analysis
complete, we have a clear benchmark from which to measure the
efficiencies that the technology will deliver to Pinnacle."
Pinnacle Polymers will deploy Pavilion's polymer APC application
suite to enhance control of the reactor, extruder and transition
process. Deployed on every major process technology and on all
major catalyst types, Pavilion APC solutions have an unrivaled track
record of superior performance. To date, Pavilion's polymer
solutions have been adopted by more than 61 polypropylene and
polyethylene lines and more than 80 reactors worldwide to increase
prime product yield, enhance overall product quality, and reduce
operating costs.
